ie. the first recipe I ever learned to make in Year 8 Food Tech.

recipe:

  • two granny smith apples
  • 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

crumble:

  • 1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup (75g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (60g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (62ml) unsalted butter, melted

method:

  1. Peel and chop apple into large chunks.
  2. Add flour, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon, then let sit for 10 to 15 minutes or until juices have come out.
  3. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius.
  4. Prepare crumble by combining rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and butter, stirring until rough crumbs form.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes (the softer you want your apples, the longer you bake—personally I like harder apples).
  6. Top with vanilla ice-cream and serve!
